Tennis, volleyball, judo and football are just a few of the sports disciplines that students and MUG staff can practice at the MUG’s Department of Sports and Physical Education. Their efforts have been rewarded by numerous prizes in the intercollegiate games in the Tri-city, as well as in competitions for the College Championship and Medical Academies Championship.
For those who want to learn to play tennis, training is on Mondays and Fridays. Female and male volleyball teams meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays and Fridays there are sessions for those eager to do sport aerobics. The most talented and persistent ones win even against sports colleges in College Championships.
Aerobics and step for beginners is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays during evening hours. Due to huge popularity, there are a lot of people in these groups.
There are also a lot of basketball lovers who come and train on Tuesdays, Thursdays and even on Saturdays.
The Medical University of Gdańsk prides itself on many superb judokas. They train on Mondays and Wednesdays in the AOS hall of Gdańsk University of Technology.
Swimmers work on their skills at the swimming pool on Wajdeloty Street from Monday to Thursday. Beginners and college team members train in the same swimming pool, but they swim in different lanes.
Football players practice scoring goals at the stadium by the Faculty of Pharmacy.
In the department gym, body-building fans can work up a sweat, lifting heavier and heavier weights. Table tennis players meet by the ping-pong tables on Saturdays before noon. Martial arts enthusiasts train in a small aerobics hall, and yoga classes are held on Thursdays. Karate classes take place on Monday and Thursday evenings.
The Department of Sports and Physical Education even caters for seniors from the Medical University, for whom classes are organized on Wednesdays and Fridays before noon.
