International cooperation

All matters connected with international cooperation are handled by the International Relations Office, which is supervised by the vice-rector for Development and International Cooperation.

The University sees the development of international cooperation as extremely important, and is very successful in that field. The Medical University of Gdańsk cooperates with many centers in Europe and the world as part of intercollegiate and intergovernmental agreements, initiatives and programmes of the EU, thematic networks, and membership in international organizations, joint BSc and PhD studies, the exchange of academic teachers, joint publications and numerous science conferences and symposiums.

Since 1998 the University has actively participated in the SOCRATES/Erasmus Programme. Each year a growing number of students of medicine, pharmacy and biotechnology are sent to 42 partner universities in the EU. The University accepts an increasing number of foreign students, who complete part of their studies in English at our college. The Medical University of Gdańsk participates in the Leonardo da Vinci, CEEPUS, NUPACE programmes as well, thanks to which our students and young scientists travel abroad to complete part of their studies, work practice or research work.

Appreciating the importance of the regional side of European cooperation, The Medical University of Gdańsk is a co-founding member of the Baltic Sea Region University Network, coordinated by the University of Turk, Finland. The AMG takes part in the work of regional organization ScanBalt, whose aim is to support the initiatives for the development of technology transfer, in the fields of medicine and biotechnology, in the Baltic Sea region.
